CAMPSITE
Historic campsite, well known and frequented by foreign turism during the 60, 70 and 80, it has brought up to date in July 2015 thanks to Giuseppe who has renovated the campsite and is now managing the completely new and improved site with modern amenities.
Amongst the first municipal italian campsites, former military base during the Second World War, bought in 1957 from the at the time mayor Umberto Paternostro from the Minister of Defence, the camping La Batteria takes its name from the coastline where it is situated called beach “la batteria”.
On the wonderful and very wide veranda/panoramic viewpoint facing the sea, there are still the iron and concrete defences on which the military artillery battery was positioned in the Second World War.
By virtue of its military base function, the camping is situated on the highest and most exposed promontory of the gulf of Manfredonia.
The campsite hosts inside a thick and secular pine forest overlooking the sea, in the shade of which the 45 pitches for campervan/caravan are situated. The pitches for ridge tents (about 30) are situated in the shade of the tree-lined windbreaks. All pitches have a spectacular sea view.
Inside the camping there are two large blocks (former military guesthouses) that ,following the very recent renovation of the entire area, have been converted into serviced accomodation: the first block accommodates 5 bungalow/one bedroom apartements fitted with private bathroom and a veranda with garden that ensures privacy to its guests.
Each bungalow/one bedroom apartement can accommodate from 2 to 6 people and on request it is possible to have cooking facilities installed. They are all equipped with cold/hot air conditioning, BBQ and TV connection. Cleaning service on request.
The second block accommodates a well stocked convenience store, campsite's bar, a newsstand, a cooking and a eating area and a wide conference room that can also be used for various activities and/or events. The entire facility is provided with a central heating system that makes it also prefectly usable during Winter.
The camping area covers nearly 15000 square metres directly on the sea. There are 2 accesses to the beach directly from the the camping. The beach is exclusively for the use of the campings' guests. The two accesses to the beach are made both via a masonry staircase leading down from the cliff and a wide paved ramp used also for the access to the beach from emergency vechiles and disabled visitors.
Exceptionally wide and shaded, the campervan/caravan pitches have different sizes depending the needs of the guests and have a size from a minimum of 50 square metre to a maximum of 100 square metre. Each pitch is provided with an electric hook-up point of 6 Amp. It is possible to increase the amperage on request.
The tent pitches, also wide and shaded with an exclusive sea view, are provided with electricity hook-ups and equipped with comfortable and functional tables, wood benches and a BBQ area. In the northern area of the camping and directly facing the sea side, there are 5 housing units for rental including a trailer for 4/6 people plus a veranda awning and a kitchenette.
The camping is provided with a lovely swimming pool suitable for children, also with a sea view and surronded by a large relaxing green area/solarium equipped with sun beds, gazebo and umbrellas. Amenities also include a bar service and wifi access. The camping is provided with a large playground with a beach volley field, a five a side pitch, and a children playground. There is also an outdoor shaded grassed fitness area with a spectacular sea view equipeed with fitness training machines available free of charge to the guests. Also available a pool table, table football, ping-pong, dart bord.
The separate male and female brick built toilet/washing facilities include 10 toilet cubicals, 10 coined operated hot water showers, 10 free of charge cold water showers, a washing up area and a laundry area with coined operated laundry machines and hand-wash facilities and a foot washing area. All the services have potable water and the entire area is provided with various fountains with potable water.

Location of particular interest: the camping is located in the hearth of the movida (“nightlife”) of Bisceglie. From the camping it is possible to reach easily on foot all the most important touristy destinations of the city. There is a free of charge “navetta” (bus) with a stop just in front of the entrance of the camping.

The camping is open for the whole year and organizes numerous and various events such as “sagre” (local festivals); local markets; creative workshops; sport, social and cultural events; conferences; books' presentations; cinema; drive-in cinema; musical events; yoga and pilates courses; informative gatherings and open days.
Possiblity to host ceremonies and private parties in out of season periods.
